The short answer
OurDream AI says it is for adults only. Its terms say users must be 18 or older, and its site shows an age gate asking visitors to confirm they are 18+. Its safety center says identity-based age checks are required where local law demands it, naming the UK and Australia, and are run by outside providers.
Its privacy policy says it may use personal information to train its AI models and does not describe a way to opt out of training specifically. Its safety center says messages are screened automatically for suicide and self-harm content and that flagged messages trigger a notice pointing to crisis services. We found no regulator or attorney general action naming it in official sources as of October 22, 2026.
Who runs it and who can use it
As of October 22, 2026, OurDream AI's terms (last modified August 26, 2026) name Dream Studio USA, Inc., a Delaware corporation with an address in Dover, Delaware, as the operator of ourdream.ai and ourdream.io. Delaware law governs. The terms send most disputes to individual arbitration, waive jury trials and class actions, and let users opt out of arbitration by written notice within 30 days of first accepting the terms.
The terms tell anyone under 18 not to sign up. Its underage policy (last modified June 9, 2026) limits access to people who are at least 18, or of legal age in their country of residence, and its privacy policy says the service is not designed for minors under 18.
How age is checked
OurDream AI's underage policy says users must confirm they are 18+ at an age gate before viewing content, and that giving a false age breaks its terms. It says that where law, payment partners or its own risk assessments require it, the company may use third-party checks such as government ID or facial or biometric verification.
Its safety center's age verification page says identity checks are required where local law demands it and names the United Kingdom and Australia; it does not name any U.S. state. It says checks are run by Go.cam or AgeVerif, using methods such as facial age estimation, a live selfie, government ID or credit card checks, and that OurDream receives only a pass or fail result, not ID or face images.
The page says users who do not verify are denied the gated features, and that an account whose holder appears to have misrepresented their age is suspended pending investigation. Its reporting page says suspected underage users can be reported to trust@ourdream.ai and that these reports are treated as high severity.
Content rules
OurDream AI's safety center says most content on the platform is adult creative work, and that everything on it is generated by AI. Its prohibited content policy (last modified June 9, 2026) and safety center bar, among other things:
- content that exploits, endangers or depicts minors, including AI content that resembles minors;
- content depicting or impersonating real people, including public figures, without their consent, and characters based on celebrities or private individuals;
- sexual content that presents non-consent as appealing;
- content that encourages or glorifies self-harm or endorses suicide, and content that promotes violence;
- hate speech, human trafficking, incest, illegal content and attempts to get around moderation.
Its content moderation policy (last modified June 9, 2026) says automated filters check for violations in real time and that people review public, flagged and reported content. Enforcement can include removal, warnings, suspension, permanent bans and referral to law enforcement where required.
Crisis and self-harm features
OurDream AI's wellbeing resources page says user messages and character replies are screened for suicidal ideation and self-harm before delivery. It says that when a user's message is flagged, the character does not reply and the user sees a notice pointing to crisis services; a flagged character reply is withheld and replaced with a notice that includes a crisis referral.
The page lists crisis lines by country, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the U.S., and says OurDream is not a crisis service and that no clinician monitors conversations.
Privacy: who sees your chats
As of October 22, 2026, OurDream AI's privacy policy (last modified August 26, 2026) and safety center say:
- It collects account details, payment information through payment vendors, age verification results, chat messages and other content users create, and device, usage and general location data.
- It may use personal information to train its AI and machine learning models. The policy does not describe a way to opt out of training specifically.
- Its safety center's privacy summary says other users cannot see a user's chats, that staff see them only with the user's explicit consent for support or in response to a lawful legal request, and that a third-party AI model provider processes messages to generate replies.
- Its moderation page says automated classifiers screen content, including private chats, and that human reviewers see only content that a classifier flagged, a user reported or an investigation escalated.
- The privacy policy says it does not engage in advertising as of the policy's date but may in the future, and its Nevada section says it does not currently sell personal information as Nevada law defines sales. Its California section says analytics and advertising services it may use could result in sharing online identifiers with advertising partners, and describes how to opt out. The safety center says it does not sell users' data or chats.
Keeping and deleting your data
OurDream AI's privacy policy says it keeps information for as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for, without giving specific periods. It says users can delete their account under Settings, then Account management, or email trust@ourdream.ai to ask for access, correction or deletion.
The policy says a popular public character a user created may be kept active on the service even after the user deletes their data and account.
Subscriptions and refunds
OurDream AI's refund policy (last modified March 9, 2026) says users can contact support within 14 days of purchase about a service that is defective or significantly different from its description, and that refunds are at its discretion; it may offer a credit or fix instead. Cancelled subscriptions run to the end of the billing period, and unused time is generally not refunded unless the law requires it.
The policy says cryptocurrency payments are final, that consumers in the EU, UK and Switzerland have a 14-day right to withdraw subject to conditions, and that filing a chargeback without contacting support first may lead to account suspension.
Government actions
We found no attorney general, FTC or other regulator action naming OurDream AI or Dream Studio USA in official sources as of October 22, 2026. It was not among the seven companies that received the FTC's companion chatbot orders in September 2025, or among the 13 companies named as recipients of the multistate attorney general letters announced on August 25 and December 10, 2025.
Which chatbot laws may be relevant
No law names OurDream AI. Whether a particular service counts as a companion chatbot under a given law is a legal question. OurDream's age verification page ties its identity checks to UK and Australian rules for adult content; those are separate from the companion chatbot laws below. These state laws set duties for companion chatbot operators:
- California SB 243, in effect since January 1, 2026: operators must give a clear notice that the chatbot is AI when a reasonable person would be misled, keep a protocol to prevent suicide and self-harm content that refers users to crisis services, publish details of that protocol on their website, and tell users companion chatbots may not suit some minors. Injured users can sue.
- New York's AI companion law, in effect since November 5, 2025: operators need a protocol that makes reasonable efforts to detect suicidal thoughts or self-harm and refer users to crisis services, and must tell users they are not talking to a human at the start of an interaction and at least every three hours.
- Washington HB 2225 and Oregon SB 1546, both effective January 1, 2027: operators must disclose that the chatbot is AI (in Oregon, when a reasonable person could think it is human), run and publish a suicide and self-harm protocol with crisis referrals, and add protections for users the operator knows are minors (in Washington, also where the chatbot is directed to minors; in Oregon, also where the operator has reason to believe a user is a minor).
We are not saying OurDream AI is covered by, or out of compliance with, any of these laws. It may have practices it has not published, and whether a law applies to it is a legal question this guide does not decide.
