Other Nebraska laws that may matter

  • Consumer protection law: Nebraska Consumer Protection Act (Neb. Rev. Stat. sections 59-1601 to 59-1623). It applies to businesses generally, not to chatbots specifically; whether it reaches a particular chatbot practice is a legal question.
  • Consumer privacy law: Nebraska Data Privacy Act (Neb. Rev. Stat. sections 87-1101 to 87-1130), in effect from January 1, 2025. It sets rules for personal data, which can include what people type into a chatbot, for businesses that meet its thresholds.
